The format has an initial eight fighters, who compete in four quarter-finals of 3 x 3 minute rounds followed by two semi-finals and one final all on the same night.

The prize money for the winner of the tournament is £32,000, a figure that has increased from the initial prize of £25,000 when the tournament first aired in April 2008. There have been 12 Prizefighter tournaments so far featuring nine different weight divisions.

Scotlands Stevie McGuire, a former British title challenger is among the contenders, while Birmingham’s Eddie McIntosh, Sheffields Peter Federenko and Essexs Daniel Cadman will all be confident of glory.

A successful night at Prizefighter can change the direction of a fighters career. Audley Harrison would have retired from boxing if he had not won Prizefighter Heavyweights III but his success was followed by a victory for the European belt and he is now close to a world title shot.
