TANCET 2010 Notification | TANCET 2010 Application Form Dates M.Tech, MBA, MCA, ME: Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test(TANCET) is an entrance examination conducted every year by Anna University on behalf of Tamil Nadu Government for admission in the professional post-graduate programmes in various Government/Private universities/institutes in Tamil Nadu which include Anna University-Chennai, Anna University-Coimbatore, Anna University-Trichy, Anna University-Tirunelveli, Government and Government aided Institutes and Government Quota seats in private Institutes. TANCET is for admission in M.Tech/M.E./MBA/MCA/M.Arch/M.Plan programmes.
TANCET is the most popular examination for aspirants in Tamil Nadu who want to pursue Post Graduation in professional courses in Tamil Nadu. Every year a very large number of candidates in Tamil Nadu appear for TANCET for admission in best colleges and courses in Tamil Nadu. Even candidates from outside Tamil Nadu can appear for TANCET but their admission depends on the rules of particular university/institute.
Eligibility criteria:
MBA:
A candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline or equivalent from a recognised university/institute. Candidates in their final year/awaiting their results can also apply. Candidates who have done their bachelor’s degree after doing their diploma can also apply.
MCA:
A candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline or equivalent from a recognised university/institute. Also a candidate should have had Mathematics/Statistics at +2 level/Diploma or Graduation. Candidates in their final year/awaiting their results can also apply.Candidates who have done their bachelor’s degree after doing their diploma can also apply.
M.E./M.Tech:
A candidate should have a bachelor’s/master’s degree or equivalent in the corresponding discipline in which the student wants to pursue M.E./M.Tech. Full details will be available with the officialadmission notification.
M.Arch/M.Plan:
A candidate should have a bachelor’s/master’s degree or equivalent in architecture/planning. Full details will be available with the official admission notification.
Availability of Application forms:
The forms will be available directly from various centers as notified in the advertisement and hall ticket will be issued on-spot. The form can also be obtained by post by sending a Demand Draft along with the request for form. Candidates can also download the form online through the website www.annauniv.edu. There will be a common form for all the programmes and candidates who want to appear for more than one programme has to pay additional examination fees for every programme.
All the Entrance Tests have a common application form. Only one application form needs to be submitted by the candidates. The entrance fee, according to TANCENT 2009, is Rs.300 (Rs.150 for Tamil Nadu SC/ST candidates). A demand draft of the said amount has to be drawn in favour of “The Director, Entrance Examinations, Anna University Chennai”, payable at Chennai. The draft can be obtained from any Nationalized Bank. This draft has to be submitted, as the Test fee, along with the duly filled-in application form.
If a candidate wants to apply for more than one programme, he or she has to enclose an additional DD of Rs.300 for each additional programme.
Registration for the entrance test can be done through the following modes:

* Online Registration
Candidates can register online and they should enclose the filled-in downloaded application form, copy of class X or equivalent exam mark sheet, and the required demand draft. The SC/ST candidates of Tamil Nadu need to enclose an attested copy of the community certificate.

Pattern for Examination:
All the Entrance Exams will be of 2 hours duration consisting of multiple choice questions. MBA and MCA Entrance exam will have 100 questions each while ME/MTech/M.Arch/M.Plan entrance will have separate compulsory and specialization sections. Candidates will have to choose the specialization section depending on their qualifying degree. There will be negative marking in all the exams for incorrect answers.

As having Electronic base you have the eligibility to get in… But If they are not allowing in the sense… You have to give the proof during the counseling that you have undergone the subjects during the UG.

Good Morning and Thanks for ur response. Does anna university has seat sharing for GATE qualified students and TANCET qualified students..? I mean: say for example if they have 20 seats, do they allot 15 seats for GATE and 5 seats for TANCET..?
(or) seats will be filled first by GATE candidates and then, the left out seats is filled by TANCET candidates..???

Generally seat were allotted on GATE basis for certain courses only which you now only when u get the application pamplet……
Courses such as Environmental Science and Technology, Self Supporting courses are not for GATE students. these courses were only based on TANCET mark…..
This is not the regular one changes may come every Year…

Have cleared GATE? Check the GATE Cutoff mark for ur community and the course?
U have to write Tancet because u have a low mark… If u cleared GATE in the sense u will get stipend for certain courses in anna university..
TANCET is very easy compared to GATE. Write TANCET Exam Forms will be Available for Tancet during the April Month..

There is no cutoff marks for Tancet, only ranks will be given based on the marks u scored. It doesn’t depend on ur UG marks…
